As more and more Haitians heard of the distribution being handed out by the soldiers, the distribution line turned into a huge gathering of people being pushed from the back. The soldiers stood their ground and handed out the majority of the relief for as long as they could before they were hugely out numbered and over run. A devastating earthquake hit the region on Jan. 12, 2010. Since then USSOUTHCOM has distributed more than 636,951 bottles of water and more than 473,325 Humanitarian Daily Rations.
