Norfolk (September 19, 2022) Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region participate in history and heritage training facilitated by BTCS(SW) Tom Dandes, USN (Ret.) of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The presentation was part of the museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, and is hosted by the museum and area commands. The event is the largest and longest running of its kind in Virginia.

Chief Master Sgt. Nicholas Tonino, 19th Airlift Wing command chief, carries a POW/MIA flag during a 24-hour POW/MIA remembrance run at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, Sept. 16, 2022. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of CSG 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.

In celebration of the United States Marine Corps' 247th birthday, Marines, Sailors, and Civilians of Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic (EWTGLANT) participate in a 247 mile run. This USMC birthday celebration run began the afternoon of Monday, November 7th with individual runners running in 10 minute continuous increments, over two nights, for the initial 246 miles and finished the 247th mile with a formation run on Wednesday, November 9th.

He eventually retired from the U.S. Army Reserve. (April 1, 2022) - Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets participate in the curl-up event at the 2022 NJROTC National Academic, Athletic, and Drill Competition, April 1. It is the first to be held in person since 2019 and is the most comprehensive test of overall NJROTC training and performance. U.S. Marines with Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 352, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, start an organized run from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, Nov. 9, 2022. The 160-mile run was led and organized by Capt. Tyler Chittick, a former infantry unit leader, and now KC-130J Super Hercules pilot with VMGR-352, known as the Raiders. Chittick conducted this run in 2012 in honor of his friend and fellow Marine, Sgt. Milan Franklin, who was wounded in Afghanistan in 2010, losing both his legs. This year, sixteen Marines from VMGR-352 are running on the Marine Corps birthday. The run ends with Chittick handing off the unit colors to another frequently deployed and storied Marine Corps unit: 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

The Marines leading from the front were responsible for the training and organization of 1st Recruit Training Battalion.

Community members enjoy a free breakfast June 14, 2022, in front of Rumpel Fitness Center as part of the Army Birthday Celebration at Fort McCoy, Wis. The breakfast was part of many events coordinated by the Fort McCoy Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation to commemorate the 247th birthday of the U.S. Army at Fort McCoy. The day also included a birthday lunch, free car washes, and more.

He eventually retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.
