Despite the rain, hundreds of riders participated in the annual Peacekeepers Ride, which supports causes for service members and law enforcement officers. The annual Peacekeepers ride starts at the Illinois National Guard headquarters on Camp Lincoln in Springfield. This year the ride, held on July 17, honored Illinois Army National Guard Col. (ret.) James Smith and Sangamon County Sheriff Department Sgt. Jason Boesdorfer, both of whom died in May. Smith served in the Illinois Army National Guard for 31 years retiring as the ILARNG Chief of Staff in 2008. He then went on to serve as the Illinois Department of Military Affairs Chief of Staff from 2008 until his death on May 11, 2022.

Exercise operations are shown Aug. 12, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis., for the 86th Training Division's Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) 86-22-02. The exercise took place in August 2022 at Fort McCoy at various locations throughout the installation. Around 4,000 service members participated in the exercise. The CSTX is a joint training event executed in a live, virtual, and constructive integrated training environment where service members test their tactical and technical skills.

ICE arrests border security, public safety threats during national operation. National effort aligned with current civil immigration enforcement priorities. WASHINGTON U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers apprehended over 100 noncitizens following the conclusion of a national operation focused on noncitizens removed from the U.S. within the last five years pursuant to a final order, who subsequently reentered without authorization and have been determined to be a credible threat to border security or public safety. Of those arrested during the June 1-7 operation, most have convictions for crimes including, but not limited to, aggravated assault with a gun, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, hit and run, drug trafficking, and child molestation.

Thompson has participated in many digs at Fort McCoy. This survey is looking at areas were cement pads were located where troops placed military tents and bivouacked nearly 90 years ago. Archaeology work has been ongoing on Fort McCoy for decades to not only look back and document the post's military history, but also the area's distant past where artifacts thousands of years old have been found.

The construction area for a future transient training brigade headquarters in the 1600 block on the cantonment area is shown Nov. 3, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis. A contract, totaling $11,964,432.87, was awarded June 9, 2022, to L.S. Black Constructors to build the fiscal year 2022 Transient Training Brigade Headquarters project at Fort McCoy. Construction operations began in August 2022. Location of construction is just across the street from where the same contractor has been building two new transient training troop barracks buildings in the same block. According to the Army Corps of Engineers, which is managing the project, the brigade headquarters project is based on the denser, more consolidated footprints of Fort McCoys Troop Housing Area Development Plan which states fewer, multiple story buildings allow facilities/functions to be sited closer together, allowing for a more walkable training environment, as well as saving money on utilities.
