Pacific Ocean, August 13, 2007 - A RIM-7P NATO Sea Sparrow Missile launches from Sea Sparrow Mount Four aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) during a stream raid shoot exercise. Lincoln's self-defense systems fired four Sea Sparrow missiles, engaging and destroying two BQM-74E turbojet-powered drone aircraft and a High-Speed Maneuvering Surface Threat (HSMST) remote controlled Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) during the event.

A P-15 SS-N-2c Styx SSM is unloaded from the No. 4 missile tube aboard the USNS HIDDENSEE (185NS9201) while the ship is moored at the Naval Sea Systems Command facility at Solomons Annex. The Soviet-built Tarantul I class missile corvette was acquired from the Federal German navy in November 1991, and is currently undergoing testing and evaluation by the U.S. Navy. SAN DIEGO (July 30, 2012) The Laser Weapon System (LaWS) temporarily installed aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) in San Diego, Calif., is a technology demonstrator built by the Naval Sea Systems Command from commercial fiber solid state lasers, utilizing combination methods developed at the Naval Research Laboratory. LaWS can be directed onto targets from the radar track obtained from a MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapon system or other targeting source. The Office of Naval Research's Solid State Laser (SSL) portfolio includes LaWS development and upgrades providing a quick reaction capability for the fleet with an affordable SSL weapon prototype. This capability provides Navy ships a method for Sailors to easily defeat small boat threats and aerial targets without using bullets.

PHILIPPINE SEA (May 27, 2019) A Tomahawk land attack missile is launched from the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) during a live-fire demonstration as part of Pacific Vanguard (PACVAN). PACVAN is the first of its kind quadrilateral exercise between Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, and U.S. Naval forces. Focused on improving the capabilities of participating countries to respond together to crisis and contingencies in the region, PACVAN prepares the participating maritime forces to operate as an integrated, capable, and potent allied force ready to respond to a complex maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific region.
