Joshua Gordan from Royal Australian Navy auxiliary oiler replenishment ship HMAS Supply (A 195) takes Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force personnel from Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter destroyer JS Izumo (DDH-183) on a tour of Supply during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. The Orion test capsule undergoes stationary recovery testing in Norfolk, VA on Aug. 13, 2013. The USS San Diego is docked at Naval Base San Diego in California and the test version of the Orion crew module, secured on its handling fixture, was offloaded from the well deck of the ship. Comfort is underway operating in the vicinity of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to provide medical services with additional visits being planned around the island. The U.S. Health and Human Services and Puerto Rico Department of Health representatives are prioritizing patients at each stop prior to Comfort's arrival. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
