Console table ca. 1700-1725 Italian, Rome During the late Baroque period exuberantly carved furniture took on a sculptural appearance, reflecting the style's tendency to meld different arts into one complicated whole. Large console tables were an obligatory feature of the parade rooms of aristocratic palaces of the late seventeenth and throughout the eighteenth century. Often ordered in units of two or four, with matching mirrors and stools, such pieces helped to achieve the perfect symmetry of the intended stagelike interior. The boldly scrolled legs carved with female busts wearing light-catching tiaras contrast with the almost weightless look of the fanciful stretchers and the pierced apron friezes. The latter incorporate wingshaped lambrequins and floral sprays over elongated scrolls, with central theatrical demon masks. The delicate gilding grants an illusion that the base is made entirely of precious metal and complements the table's original top of rare and colorful green porphy

Double-leaf Doors, 1790s. Pierre Rousseau (French, 1751-1829). Oil on wood; unframed: 274 x 63 cm (107 7/8 x 24 13/16 in.). Shifts in style and taste often result in changes to original architectural details. Rousseau paintedthese doors with imitation dark wood grain. Another craftsman later scraped off the dark color surrounding the classical designs. This set was conserved in 1979 and retains more traces of the original graining than the other doors by this artist in the museum's collection.

Chimney of Kunstmarmer, part of paneling 1626, 1626 The chimney has a whitewashed, black artificial marble chair with detached Tuscan columns on pedestals, which are placed for flat pilasters and wear consoles. Basic and capital are made of brown -veined white marble. The chimney mantle rests on the consoles. The Frisian wears an arching position in the middle and on the corners, in which the figures of faith, hope and love are painted. The middle cartouche above the arch is wearing the year 1626. Northern Netherlands marble (rock) Dordrecht The chimney has a whitewashed, black artificial marble chair with detached Tuscan columns on pedestals, which are placed for flat pilasters and wear consoles. Lacquer room. This room was made for the Court of the Stadholders at Leeuwarden. It formed part of the apartment of the consort of the Frisian stadholder, Princess Albertine Agnes of Orange and Nassau. The walls are mounted with Chinese screens of Coromandel lacquer. In this enchanting room,filled with exotic furniture and porcelain, the princess liked to drink tea from China.

Date: ca. 1710.The decoration of these double doors is closely related to that of the doors in the Salon de la Chapelle, or the Chapel Room, on the second floor of Versailles, carved by Jules Degoullons (ca. 1671-1737) and his associates in 1710. Given the similarities, it is thought that these doors were formerly at Versailles as well, but it has not been possible to establish a precise location.
