Fragment From Decorated Bowl ca. 1279-1213 B.C. New Kingdom, Ramesside The cup is richly inlaid with copper, silver, and gold, with elaborate decoration: An elaborate lotus fills the center; in the outer register a series of pendant lotuses and cornflowers encircles composite plants, caprids, a leaping bovine, desert animals, and a pair of female sphinxes with wild hair; and the inner frieze is a swamp scene with flying ducks, a mongoose, and a man ferrying what might be a standing cow. The owner of this decorated vessel most probably served in the cult of a goddess during the Ramesside period. His nameSakawahikhana, which suggests foreign connectionsin inscribed on a fragmentary bowl (1989.281.100) which is assumed to have come from the same find. The shape of this cup and of the other vessels from this find as well as their decoration indicate that they belonged to a wine service, like the jugs, jars, bottles, and situlae from Tell Basta (see for example 07.228.15 and .20).. (0.95 x 1.91 x 1.91 cm), Natural Plant Fiber, United States, 20th century, In the early 1900s, many Euro-American women traveling through the Southwest region of the United States became infatuated with miniature Native American baskets, and some became avid collectors. Native women basket makers responded to this demand by creating ever-smaller baskets, utilizing the same harvesting, processing, and coiling techniques as those for personal use. Creating tightly woven, tiny baskets in an expanding range of designs and styles for their new clientele required the same levels of expertise and knowledgebut perhaps even more dexterity and skill.

Stand for an altar cross, anonymous, c. 1170 The object is cast in several parts. Subsequently, it was ciseled, engraved here and there and gilded in its entirety (also the bottom). Two angels stand side by side on a rectangular soil, which rests on a pedestal, on the front and back of two lying lions each, the heads on the corners and in the middle the head of a basilisk. The claw legs come from the slumps open. The sides are slightly out and have a decoration applied in two rows, consisting of the motif of a bol-with-hole, above an Arcaderand with five or six openings. The angels stand side by side and have spread their wings. Proportionally, wings and heads are too big for the bodies. The angels point up with their right or left hand. Hairstyle, tunicas and wings are indicated in detail.
