The Wedding Held Up The Traffic -- London crowds held up traffic, jammed the West End, and caused extra police squads when Lady Margaret Egerton, Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Elizabeth, and Mr. John R. Colville, Private secretary to the Princess, were married at St. Margaret's Westminster. A solid mass of women and girls watched 2,000 guests arrive-mostly in taxis. Then there was a hush as the bride - six minutes late by Big Ben - arrived. There was just one cheer. It was for Princess Margaret, who stood beside the other six bridesmaids. Here comes the bride! Some curious children peep through the grille as the bride, Lady Margaret Egerton, and her husband, Mr. John Colville arrive at Londonderry House, London, for the wedding reception. Among the guests were farmers and Gamekeepers. maids, merchants and ministers from five Buccleuch estate.Seven hundred cars and thirty buses carried the I, 600 guests to St.Giles's Cathedral; Edinburgh, for the 40 minute service.Five hundred police were drafted to the cathedral area to control the mammoth crowd of tens of thousands of spectators.In the assembly room after the wedding, all the guests received a glass of champagne and a slice of the 196-lb wedding cake which had the two initials "j s" side by side on the second of its three.
