Exploration Ground Systems will be completing facilities to support the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - At the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, Bob Cabana, the center's director, addresses students, teachers, parents and VIPs during the 2014 DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition awards ceremony at the Operations and Support Building II. The challenge, now in its 28th year, reaches out to students from grades seven through 12 from all 50 states and Canada. More than 200,000 students entered the competition. The DuPont Challenge aims to inspire students to excel and achieve in scientific writing and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics STEM. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- In the NASA News Center annex at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, social media participants listen to a briefing by Badri Younes, deputy associate administrator, Space Communications and Navigation SCaN NASA Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C. The social media participants gathered at the Florida spaceport for the launch of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite, or TDRS-L spacecraft. Their visit included tours of key facilities and participating in presentations by key NASA leaders who updated the space agency's current efforts.

The Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) is to measure the amount, rate and energy of lightning around the world. The SAGE III instrument is designed to study ozone in the atmosphere. A Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to be launched from Kennedys Launch Complex 39A on Feb. 18 atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the company's 10th Commercial Resupply Services mission to the space station.
