Cape Canaveral, Fla. -- NASA managers meet in Operations Support Building II at NASA's Kennedy Space Center to discuss the readiness of the payload for shuttle Atlantis' STS-135 mission to the International Space Station. Just before a payload is installed in the shuttle's payload bay, a Payload Readiness Review is held at Kennedy. This review, one of the last in a long process, assesses the readiness of the shuttle and the payload for what are called the "payload on-line integration activities." Artemis I team members conduct the Artemis I launch pre-test briefing on Sept. 23, 2022, at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Exploration Research and Technology Programs at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida hosted a two-day workshop, Aug. 6 and 7, 2019, focusing on robotics and automation in space crop production. The participants are presenting papers on engineering trade studies to design optimal configurations for a MarsPort Deployable Greenhouse for operation on the surface of Mars. Judges in the competition were from KSC, Dynamac Corporation and Florida Institute of Technology. The winning team's innovative ideas will be used by NASA to evaluate and study other engineering trade concepts. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- About 150 people from 43 states, Washington, D.C., and half a dozen countries participate in the STS-134 Tweetup event at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A Tweetup gives followers of @NASA on the social messaging medium Twitter the opportunity to tour the center, view a shuttle launch and speak with NASA managers, astronauts, shuttle technicians and engineers. During the STS-134 mission, space shuttle Endeavour will deliver the Express Logistics Carrier-3, Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2 (AMS), a high-pressure gas tank and additional spare parts for the Dextre robotic helper to the International Space Station. Endeavour was scheduled to launch at 3:47 p.m. on April 29, but that attempt was scrubbed for at least 72 hours while engineers assess an issue associated with the shuttle's Auxiliary Power Unit 1. STS-134 will be the final spaceflight for Endeavour.

In the Kennedy Space Center's Operations and Support Building II, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, members of the media participate in a prelaunch mission briefing on NASA's Parker Solar Probe. This is the first NASA mission that has been named for a living individual. The Parker Solar Probe will lift off on a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The spacecraft was built by Applied Physics Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University in Laurel, Maryland. The mission will perform the closest-ever observations of a star when it travels through the Sun's atmosphere, called the corona. The probe will rely on measurements and imaging to revolutionize our understanding of the corona and the Sun-Earth connection.

Every summer students and young professionals from NASAs Applied Sciences DEVELOP National Program come to NASA Headquarters to present their research. This year marks the 25th year of DEVELOP, a training and development program where students work on Earth science research projects, mentored by science advisors from NASA and partner agencies, and extend research results to local communities.
