Fragments, 1420-1955. Iran or Iraq , 15th-20th century. Silk: compound twill weave; average: 71 x 77 cm (27 15/16 x 30 5/16 in.). The weave provides different design for each side of this fragment. On the front, the overall lozenge pattern has alternating rows of ornamented ovals and diamonds. The large diamonds have a large four-leaved motif superimposed over a diamond with trees in each corner. The foliate ground with four pairs of opposed griffins fills the interspaces to the oval border. The diamonds have two opposed pairs of birds each flanking a Tree of Life and standing on a plant motif; these enclose a smaller central diamond with trees in each corner and a central square. On the reverse, the plain ground of natural tan has two brown bands with large and small Kufic inscriptions.

Album with 191 photos from a trip to and through South Africa. Photo album in brown leather folder. Schuttenbladen have a marble motif. The album contains a hundred blades with 191 photos, most equipped with a label with caption. It mainly made recordings in South Africa after the first peasant war (1880-1881) and during the second (1899-1902). In addition to landscapes, city and village views, people, army units, weapons and devastations are also discussed. In addition, recordings of sights in Germany, Italy, Madeira, Egypt, Aden, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. The compiler may be from the Oudewater region, given the sticker on the bract.

Folded Piece of Linen with Hieratic Inscription. Dimensions: Folded: 25.5 x 17.5 cm (10 1/16 x 6 7/8 in.). Dynasty: Dynasty 12. Reign: Possibly Senwosret I. Date: ca. 1961-1917 B.C..This folded piece of linen was found in a mass grave of at least fifty-nine soldiers. The bodies showed evidence of violence, and from their wounds it was apparent that they died on the battlefield. Buried with the individuals were small pieces of military equipment such as bows and arrows. The excavator believed that these "slain soldiers" were connected with a specific historic event that lead to the reunification of Egypt under Mentuhotep II, but a reevaluation of the evidence does not support this theory. On the corners of the linen sheets were inscriptions, some with the names that were popular only later, in early Dynasty 12. The paleography of the inscriptions and the type of wrist guard found with the soldiers also point to a date early in the 12th dynasty, which can perhaps be narrowed down to the

Album with performances of Tulpen, Jacob Marrel, 1637 - 1645 Album with 85 performances on 97 parchment sheets. Twelve magazines remained blank. Each album opening (except the last one) shows four tulips species, two per leaf. On each leaf the tulips are supplemented with insects, shells, berries and other flowers. A few sheets have the weight and prices of the tulip bulbs. Red fabric with embroidery and frills, in the front and in the back two paper bracts. On the verso of the front bract a contemporary handwritten list of the tulips shown per opening, numbered 1 to 42. This shows that the first opening (two magazines) in the album is missing. Maker: Tiffany Studios (1902-32). Date: late 19th-early 20th century.While many of Tiffany Studios' mausoleum windows refer to religious notions of the afterlife, this design encourages the viewer to reflect on their actions on earth. The quote from Plato's "Laws," known as the "Golden Rule," serves as a reminder to the living to treat others fairly. Although both Christian and Jewish traditions teach this concept, the decision to quote an ancient Greek text over scripture may have been a request from a patron who did not identify with any religious tradition. The ancient source of the text and its key scroll border also suggest an effort to adhere to the classical design scheme commonly used for mausoleums.
