Polarville, MS, Aril 27, 2015 -- FEMA archeologists conduct archeological shovel it testing at Shaw Homestead in Polarville, Mississippi, as art of the Secondary Programmatic Agreement (2PA) among FEMA, the State of Mississippi and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. The Secondary Programmatic Agreement is a legal document that was created as a result of damage to historically significant sites caused by Hurricane Katrina and later recovery efforts such as debris removal. The Environmental Historic Preservation (EHP) activity of FEMA archeologists in Mississippi is made possible through FEMA Public Assistance funding.
