Guy's Hospital- Life in a London Hospital, England, 1941 This photograph shows a chart issued to stretcher parties regarding the use of particular labels for casualties. There are five key labels listed: T (+time) indicates the time that a tourniquet was placed on the casualty (for example T 14:30 indicates that a tourniquet was placed at 2:30pm); H indicates that the patient has suffered a haemorrhage and that a tourniquet has not been applied; C indicates that the patient has been contaminated with gas; M 1/4 (+ time) indicates that the patient has been given 1/4 grain of morphine and the time at which it was given; and X indicates that the patient is a priority for examination upon arrival at the hospital.
