Photo album with recordings of excavations in Pompeii by Giorgio Sommer, Giorgio Sommer, c. 1867 - c. 1900 scrapbook Photo album in red band with leather back and corner points. On the back and the frontplat the title in gold pressure and in relief. A frame has been installed on the back slat, with a flower on the corners. The album contains 50 sheets with the same number of prints. They are recordings of the excavations in Pompeii that was buried in 79 by a volcano eruption. Depicted are remnants of streets, squares, villas, temples and tombs, such as the Strada della Abondanza, the Strada di Stabia, the Strada Mercurio, the houses of Cornelio Ruffo, of Marco Lucrezio, of the tragic poet and the Faun, the temple from Isis and Van Hercules. Also recordings of the petrified remnants of victims of the volcanic eruption and frescoes.
