Sky-Liner Of 1938 -- At Croydon, London's terminal aerodrome, "Frobisher flies for the first time the British civil air ensign. She and four sister craft will operate some of Imperial Airways European services. She cruises at 212 m.p.h. (341 km./h.) with 22 passengers and mails on board. Her "still air" range is 1100 miles (1.770 km.) In the background is the veteran "’Heracles" , which has flown more hours and carried more passengers then any other airliner in the world. A New Standard for Britain's civil planes. The Frobisher, Britain's liner for the European services, flies the civil air ensign for the first time. In the back ground is the Heracles, which has flown more hours and more passengers than any other airliner. November 03, 1938.

B.O.A.C. Taking Over Handley Page Hermes IV Airliner -- New photographs of the Handley Page Hermes IV aircraft, of which typo 25 are on order for B.O.A.C. A start has now been made in handing over those aircraft from the manufacturers to B.O.A.C. for crew training, familiarisation and operational development flights preparatory to introduction of the airliner on the Corporation's African routes later this year.The Hermes ***** is a 40-seater aircraft, powered by four 2100 h.p. Bristol Hercules 763 engines. It has a cruising speed of 265 m.p.h. and can fly up to 25,000 feet. 12/31/1968. The DC-8 series 55F, with the capacity to transport fifty-eight tons of cargo, with which the Iberia company carried out the first transatlantic flight dedicated exclusively to the transport of goods. It was named after the painter Berruguete.

The Comet Comes Home -- Britain's Comet III jetliner comes in for a landing at London airport today after a 35,000-mile round-the world proving flight climaxed by a six hour, eight minute crossing of the Atlantic from Montreal. the 74-ton, four-jet Comet III, forerunner of Britain's latest bid in commercial jet aviation, is a proving model for a bigger craft to come. The world's first jet driven airliner, the De Havilland Comet (D. H. 106), is being prepared for its maiden flight, expected in a few days, at Hatfield, Herfordshire, where the machine is undergoing engine and other tests.Built in secret, the plane has swept-back wings and four Ghost gas-turbine engines. Its cruisn speed is estimated at 500 miles an hour, and the saloon is pressurised for operation at heights up to 40,000 feet.Designed to carry 36 passengers with a crew of four, the Comet is intended for express services on Commonwealth routes, and is also considered suitable for inter-Continental services generally. A plane of this type disappeared in bad weather today on a flight from the U.S. to England.
