It is iced in many different colours and contains 39 lbs. of sugar and nearly 1 ct. of sultanas. Australia At War: Girls emptying trays just out of dehydrator.Australian factories are now engaged on large scale dehydration of vegetables for Allied forces in the S.W. Pacific. A 1 quality carrots, cabbages, potatoes, onions, parsnips, swedes, parsley and beetroot are being dehydrated. Time involved varies from 7 to 9 hours for processing of different vegetables. One 15 lb. drum of dehydrated carrots equals 165 lbs. of fresh carrots. Unopened they will keep indefinitely. It lessens transport problems, assures delivery in good condition and is invaluable to the health of fighting men. This series of pictures deals solely with carrot dehydration. May 09, 1943.
