Original caption: Whitehurst Freeway - This view is from the west end of the Whitehurst Freeway in Georgetown and shows traffic using the new elevated highway soon after is was opened. At the right, cars come down from Key Bridge onto the freeway, avoiding the usual traffic jam at the bridge and M Street. The automobiles at the left will go under Key Bridge and come out at the Georgetown end of the bridge or continue on down M Street. The center lane is carrying cars from M Street onto the freeway. The freeway extends about a mile from this western end to the Twenty-seventh Street end beyond Rock Creek Parkway. Print from Washington Star. State: DC.
