The Town of Gaza was found to be completely dismantled by the Turks, the roofs, window-frames, doors etc, having been removed from the houses for the sake of the beams, which were used in the construction of Trenches and dugouts. The roofs left intact were those built in the form of a dome and which contained no timber. Turkish Trenches in El Arish Redoubt. This strong work was captured by a battalion of the Royal Scots.
