The Premier As Sailor, Soldier & Airman -- Mr. Winston Churchill, who has fought in many campaigns is seen in these three photographs as sailor (on board the Royal Yacht in 1912), as soldier (an officer of the Queen's Own Hussars at Army manoeuvres with the late Lord French in 1910), and as an airman after flying from Upavon (Wilts) to Portsmouth in 1914. It belonged to traffic policeman Mohammed Ibrahim Sayed Ahmed until he was ordered to remove it. Ahmed's complaint of "violation of constitutional rights" is being considered. Flight engineer and photographer William Wynne (pictured) worked with photographer Arthur Laufman to execute a photo concept devised by Laufman. Wynne printed two copies of the F-61 aircraft in flight. The prints were made to the correct size that allowed them to be cut out and taped to the lenses of his goggles to simulate a reflection. The photo of Wynne was then taken with an out of focus background to simulate clouds.

People living in the area said they heard what sounded like machine-gun shots last night. The bodies of the man and the woman were found lying together. August 14, 1952.

Warning in Case of Gas Attack Siren Tests at Hendon An electric double trumpet, as used by French fire brigades, being demonstrated at Hendon this morning. Tests are being made at Hendon, London, N.W., to discover the best type of siren for warning the public in the event of a gas attack from the air. This morning a number of selected sirens were sounded from Hendon police station. A ring of police observers was stationed in pairs at distances of 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards with sound-recording instruments to determine the power and penetration of the different siren notes over variousd distances.
