Sadie Pfeiffer, Spinner in a Cotton Mill. A young girl at work in a factory, or a boy selling newspapers on the street: Hine typified them. He worked as a photographer for the National Child Labour Committee, gave lectures, and filled files with images of children at work everywhere in America. Even then the photographer and his employer knew that a picture can say so much more than words. Photographs literally helped bring an end to child labour.
