Pictures Of Soviet Concentration Camp. Russians Revive Notorious Sachsenhausen -- A Russian officer prowls around the Sachsenhausen camp. These pictures were made with a 35 mm. candid camera having a 40 centimeter lens. These first pictures of the Soviet-ruled Sachsenhausen camp were taken, at risk of his life, by a photographer - deliberately unidentified- who crouched amid tombstones two hundred yards from prowling Russian sharp-shooters and machine-gunners. According to reports there are about 14,500 men and 1,500 women interned in Sachsenhausen, notorious under the Nazis, now run by the Soviet political police. June 24, 1949.
