Now in its 17th year, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. High School and College students from around the U.S. came together at Bragg Farms in Toney, Alabama for the 2019 Student Launch Initiative. The students launched their rockets to their own predetermined altitude with various payloads including remote rovers and unmanned aerial vehicles.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - At the KSC Visitor Complex, Kirstie McCool Chadwick, the sister of astronaut William "Willie" J. McCool who perished in the Space Shuttle Columbia explosion Feb. 1, talks to students from Columbia Elementary School in Palm Bay, Fla. The students visited the Center to learn about the past, present and future of space exploration. They also visited the Astronaut Memorial, placing flowers and observing a moment of silence in honor of the fallen crew of Columbia, and saw the 3-D IMAX film "Space Station."

About 200 children of employees at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center visited the facility for annual Take Our Children to Work activities July 27. Participants enjoyed a windshield tour of the rocket engine test site and various demonstrations and presentations on such topics as cryogenics, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, computer safety and robotics. The event, for fifth- through eighth-grade students and their parents, focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education activities that included astronaut appearances, a hovercraft, vortex cannon and alternative fuel vehicles. The back-to-school event is part of NASAs Summer of Innovation initiative to provide interactive learning experiences to middle school students nationwide.

Summer is a time of educational activity at Stennis Space Center. In June 2012, 25 young people age 13-15 attended the annual Astro STARS (Spaceflight, Technology, Astronomy and Robotics at Stennis) camp at the rocket engine test facility. During the five-day camp, participants engaged in hands-on experiences in a variety of areas, including engineering and robotics. On the final day, campers launched model rockets they had assembled.
